My name is Urša Dornik and I'm a Slovenian graphic designer and cardboard packaging engineer.
I was drawn to art, design from a very young age (diapers onward): paintings; sculptures; photography; architecture; and later -- fashion, industrial and interior design.
On the road to becoming a professor of Art History and & Fine Arts (or so I thought) I met Adobe Illustrator and fell madly, passionately in love with its magic and, at the same time, discovered new rewards and a new sense of satisfaction in the fields of graphic design.
I altered course (literally), while living abroad for almost a decade (Malta & Ireland) I have spent more than 15 years exploring the possibilities and stretching what I thought were my limits with AI, Photoshop, InDesign - thankfully without losing touch with the old familiar, comfortable company of paper, fabric, paint, pens, ink. And somewhere down the line I also threw myself into cardboard packaging design/engineering. My love for science, technology, learning and experimenting is tempered by my enchantment with vintage media and methods and my passion for print.
Shortlist these talents and I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.
Oh, and why Ooshi? Well, it's easier to pronounce. (The Slovenian letter š sounds as the digraph sh makes in English.) 😉
